Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: the most famous blonde is back on screen!
Last week, one of the most exhilarating Christmas comedies was broadcast on TF1, to the delight of viewers: the cult Mum, I missed the plane by Chris Columbus.
Who says international success, says memorable sequel! Thus, in 1992, two years after his first film, nominated twice for the Oscars and the Golden Globes, the director staged the new adventures of our favorite young hero, Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin).
After Paris, it is in Miami that the McCallister family decides to spend the end of year holidays. At the dawn of D-Day, the whole little tribe is on war footing and heads to the airport, taking care not to forget Kevin. But he slips away to buy batteries for his walkman, can no longer find his own and inadvertently sets sail for New York…
In the casting of Maman, I missed the plane again, we find the two criminals in roles that stick to their skin, always played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. Tim Curry (whose clown performance in It Came Back) is also there.
That’s not all, since Donald Trump is also on the bill and plays one of the guests of the Plaza Hotel (an establishment which, at the time, really belonged to him). A surprising cameo to say the least!
A Christmas must-have!
As a reminder, Mom, I missed the plane is an extremely profitable comedy, since it only cost fifteen million dollars… and grossed 533 million worldwide. This second opus, Mom, I missed the plane againwas a little less beneficial: $358,896,039.
And the least we can say is that this sequel was a godsend for the young actor Macaulay Culkin. Because to reprise his emblematic role of Kevin McAllister, with whom everyone born in the 80s loved to identify so much, he pocketed the modest sum of eight million dollars.
Faced with the second success of this Christmas saga, several other opuses were even produced: Mom, I take care of the bad guys!, Mom, I am alone against everyone or Mom, the house is haunted! But here, neither Macaulay Culkin nor of Chris Columbuswhich therefore does not have the same effect!
We will especially remember the first two parts of this essential Christmas saga, which, for almost thirty-three years, has delighted generations of adults and children!
Tonight on TF1 at 9:10 p.m.
