A treat for everyone’s ears with a tailor-made sound experience
A pleasant sound experience contributes to everyone’s pleasure and comfort. But what exactly makes for an optimal sound experience at an event like De Warmste Week? It depends on who you ask: the visitor to De Warmste Week, the VRT employee on site, the presenters in the studio, the local residents. In an ideal world, everyone has a good time and sound is therefore adapted to work, living and having fun. VRT is working with production company Splendit to make that story come true.
Splendit made a detailed noise study for VRT. After all, concerts in an urban environment require a very specific approach. The sound plan drawn up aims for maximum music experience for the public, but not for the rear neighbors. That is why a sound system has been installed at ‘t Zand this year that removes all noise from the back and sides of the speakers. Indeed, a huge difference for local residents and for the VRT employees in the studio and adjacent rooms. Full Cardio That’s what this sound system is called in the jargon. Because it works hard and at high intensity to filter out all the excess noise.
A second novelty this year are the 2 extra sound towers on the left and right on the outside of the site – near the flame. Those towers support the sound coming from the stage. They carry the sound further with a delay of 1 to 2 seconds. This is necessary because – a brief refresher on the physics lesson – noise levels decrease with distance. After about 50 meters, additional support is needed to carry the sound further. That’s exactly what these delay towers do. They ensure an even distribution of sound, without the sound having to be louder near the stage. A huge difference for everyone’s ears, both for the people who give everything at the front and for the audience that stands further back due to the crowds. Each individual speaker is also equipped with software that guarantees an even sound pressure.
VRT wants a good host for the more than 140,000 visitors to De Warmste Week every year. It strives for public added value in every area. With these new applications, VRT is further expanding its experience in sound experience.
