Google News on Android has received a small but important overhaul that makes navigation easier, especially in the app's bottom bar.

Here's what we know

Previously, the app had four tabs: “For You”, “Featured”, “Following” and “Newsstand”. Now, the first two sections are grouped into a single tab, Home, where the For You feed remains the default feed, and the other categories are accessible via a carousel.

New categories include headlines, local news, business, technology, entertainment and more.

Instead of underlining, a chip is now used, making navigation easier to use with one hand. This update also improves the aesthetics of the interface, especially for Material You. The update is available in version 5.120.x on Android, but is not yet available on iOS.

Furthermore, the new update introduces a “Follow” feed which allows you to personalize your news sources.
