A serious accident, involving a pedestrian and a truck, occurred this Monday, December 16, 2024, in Jarny in Meurthe-et-Moselle. Around noon, a 71-year-old woman was hit by a heavy goods vehicle while she was crossing a pedestrian crossing at the roundabout at rue Pasteur and avenue Wilson.
In cardiorespiratory arrest when help arrived, the victim could not be resuscitated despite the efforts of firefighters. She was declared dead at the scene of the accident by the SMUR doctor.
The truck driver, a Ukrainian national, did not see her when she started to cross the street. He was placed in police custody for the purposes of the investigation. The police must now establish the precise circumstances of this tragedy. Toxicological analyzes were carried out on the driver of the truck, they were negative.
