Vítor Bruno considers that it is victories like the one that FC Porto achieved over Estrela da Amadora, 2-0, this Monday, that decide championships, even more than the clashes between the candidates.
Speaking to Sport TV, after the triumph of round 14, and faced with the danger of losing points, with Sporting-Benfica at the door, Vítor Bruno downplays the impact of the derby: “That doesn't worry us.”
“This type of game is worth a championship. In the end, many times, in games with not-so-great teams, a lot of things are decided, in a possible loss of points. We are interested in looking at ourselves”, he emphasizes.
FC Porto returned to second place, with 34 points, two more than Benfica, who have one game less, and two behind leader Sporting.
Game analysis: “Game dominated, controlled. We played the game in the first half, we have two or three moments in which we can decide better. We continued looking for the second goal in the second half, Bruno Brígido had two, three very high level saves. We ended up scoring a goal in the first half. final part. Completely fair victory, which offers no discussion.”
Another game without conceding goals: “It's good news, also on a Monday, once again with more than 30 thousand people here. On Thursday it was also like this. The fans have helped the team a lot at this stage. The opponent doesn't have any shots on goal with goal and apart from a shot that goes over the top, I don't remember any dangerous play.
Substitute for Alan Varela: “It's a question of choice. Varela came from a very broad sequence of games since he came here from Argentina, without pause, without rest. It may also be having a bit of an impact on his performance. But Varela always offers guarantees, He may not start at first but he is someone who, for us, is a starter.”
FC Porto blinks on the left in the first half: “It ends up being the trend taking into account the profile of the players, who is on the right and who is on the left. With Fábio [Vieira] on the right, he will naturally and tend to place himself in interior spaces, because that is where he is strong, also looking for his strong foot. Galeno gives a lot of play on the outside and manages to inject speed, it's normal for the team to feel comfortable leaving on the left, with Pepê, Danny [Namaso]Galen, three men who associate well. On the other side he was more naked, but in the second half the team managed to divide it better between going out on the left and on the right and we ended up getting a little better, within its mission and the space it occupies.”
Porto in second, two points behind the leader, when there is a Sporting-Benfica classic coming soon: “That doesn't worry us. This type of game is worth a championship. In the end, oftentimes, in games with not-so-great teams, a lot of things are decided, resulting in a possible loss of points. We're interested in looking at ourselves.”
