– There are only a few days left to wait before receiving the interest generated by your Livret A.

The end of the year brings with it spending for the holidays but also the collection of interest. There are only a few days left to wait before receiving the interest generated by your Livret A in 2024. Like every year, the banks will in fact pay the interest on the savings accounts on the night of December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025as Ouest- reminds us. The interest on all secure investments offered by banks – Livret A, but also Livret d'enseignement populaire (Popular Savings Booklet)LEP), Housing savings plan (PEL), Sustainable and solidarity development booklet (LDDS) and Home Savings Account (THE) – will be paid on this date.

How much can you expect to get? These products are based on the fortnight rulethat is to say that your booklet generates interest every 1st and 16th of the month, depending on the amount placed on it at that time, as specified by Capital. For the Livret A, as for the LDDS, the rate was set at 3% throughout 2024. Thus, 1,000 euros invested allows you to pocket 30 euros in interest. At the level of the average outstanding amount – 7,000 euros according to figures from the Banque de France – savers will receive 210 euros in annual interest.

Capitalizable interest

Savers who have reached the ceiling of 22,950 euros throughout the year will receive the tidy sum of 688.50 euros in interest. Furthermore, on these different savings accounts, the interest can be capitalized. Which means that on December 31 of each year, the interest is added to the amount of capital already saved to produce additional interest the following year. And this, even if the payment ceiling has already been reached, which is the case for 4,3 millions of Livret A holders, according to the Banque de France.
