Guest on the “8:30 p.m.” show on France 2, the actor looked back on his time in Hollywood, at the time of the Oscar winner The Artist.
The Hollywood dream is far behind Jean Dujardin. On the occasion of the release of the mini-series Zorrothe 52-year-old actor was invited to the set of “8:30 p.m.” presented by Laurent Delahousse on France 2, on Sunday December 15. The interpreter ofOSS 117 recalled his Hollywood experience, which began when he won the 2012 Best Actor Oscar for the film The Artist by Michel Hazanavicius. “I don’t miss it at all,” the actor explained to Laurent Delahousse.
Jean Dujardin spoke without nostalgia about his short career in Hollywood. “The brain is very well made, in fact it always keeps the best,” he explained. So I keep these great moments knowing already at the time that it was a transition, and that my best roles would be in France anyway. It’s true, it’s confirmed. At least, that's what I feel. I don't need more. Incidentally, my family is here, my life is here, my very beautiful roles are here, my friends are here.

A cultural gap
Jean Dujardin seems very attached to the French art of living. “Culturally, I'm not sure I'm very comfortable there (the United States, Editor’s note),” he declared to Laurent Delahousse. In March 2023, the actor had already spoken about this subject on the set Evening Mag : “I didn't belong in the United States. It was nice, but we don't have the same approach, we don't have the same culture. What I am going to tell you will seem French to you, but to put it simply and without any political connotation: I am French! Hollywood and its codes did not suit me.”
For several years, the Oscar-winning actor has devoted himself entirely to French productions. He will play the famous masked vigilante in the mini-series Zorrobroadcast on December 23 on France 2.
