Monday, December 16, Dominique Pelicot and the 50 defendants tried alongside him spoke their last words to the court, while the verdict is expected on Thursday. The former husband of Gisèle Pelicot asked for forgiveness and wished to “salute the courage of his ex-wife”.

After three and a half months of trial, Gisèle Pelicot listened, on the morning of Monday, December 16, to the last words of the accused in court. Her ex-husband, Dominique, who drugged her without her knowledge for ten years to rape her and deliver her to strangers recruited on the internet, wanted to reiterate his apologies to her family and “salute the courage of [son] ex-femme“.

Among the 50 co-defendants, a majority did not wish to speak in the morning. 15 apologized to the victim. At the exit, as always, Gisèle Pelicot was applauded for a long time, exchanging a few words with women who came to support her. “I thank her, on behalf of all these thousands of women, for having the courage to make her trial public. It allows us to give voice to those who have been silenced.”confided Koulou Haidar, member of the 8 mars collective.

20 years in prison were requested against Dominique Pelicot, and four to 18 years in prison for the 50 co-defendants. The verdict could be pronounced Thursday morning.
