Charlie Dalin resists at the head of the race, the British Pip Hare dismasts… Follow the position of the boats live

Yoann Richomme worked hard to gain ground on leader Charlie Dalin on Monday, who is now only around forty nautical miles ahead.

Charlie Dalin, whose lead has diminished in recent days, is still holding off Yoann Richomme at the head of the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe. As of Monday morning at 7 a.m., Charlie Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance) saw the gap narrow again since Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa) is at 41 nautical miles (nm), compared to 66.13 nm the previous evening. And there are still two of them on the heels of the Norman since Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil) is also nibbling, 126.37 nm from the leader.

The three skippers are sailing in the Pacific, far ahead of the competition since the fourth, Thomas Ruyant, is sailing at more than 800 nm, between Tasmania and New Zealand. One change to note, however, in the Top 5: Nicolas Lunven (Holcim – PRB) has overtaken Jérémie Beyou (Charal), now 6th. But the two skippers remain neck and neck, with a gap of less than 2 nm.

Further aft, the British Pip Hare was the victim of a dismasting late on Sunday, 800 nm south of Australia, without the details of the incident yet being known. The rest of the boat is howevers “preserved”. The sailor, who was in 15th place at the time of the damage, “is not injured”, the organization said, adding that its team was working “closely with the race direction to secure the boat” and find a solution to reach dry land.
