Stuttgart’s redeeming third goal in the 85th minute was preceded by a foul on Fabian Rieder. Nick Woltemade converted the penalty. Rieder came into the game in place of Enzo Millot for the last quarter of an hour. He made it 2-1 shortly before half-time after making a mistake six minutes earlier to make it 1-1.

For Heidenheim, who host FC St. Gallen on Thursday at the end of the Conference League phase, it was the seventh defeat in a row across all competitions. In the Bundesliga the last point came in the 8th round on October 27th.

Dortmund missed their budgeted home win against Hoffenheim in stoppage time. Former Dortmund player Jacob Bruun Larsen scored after a header from former Swiss junior international Haris Tabakovic to make the final score 1-1. The Dortmund team around goalie Gregor Kobel took the lead shortly after the break with the first goal of the season from Giovanni Reyna, who had been injured for several weeks.

Because fourth-placed Leipzig defeated Eintracht Frankfurt at home, as they did in the Cup round of 16, Dortmund’s gap to the Champions League places grew to five points. Benjamin Sesko and Loïs Openda scored the goals for Leipzig.
