LIVE BLOG World Darts Championship: Defending champion Luke Humphries opens his tournament with a scorching 3-0 win in 9 legs
Defending champion Humphries leaves Tricole not a crumb
Luke Humphries has had a scorching start to his tournament. In his first match, the defending champion left no stone unturned by Thibault Tricole.
Humphries defeated the Frenchman with a dry 3-0. What’s more, he won every leg. With 9 pieces, the loot was already in for the number 1.
“Not that I came close to my top level,” responded Humphries, who scored an average of 90.79 with 3 darts. “But it was the victory that took precedence.”
Humphries could be the first world champion to succeed himself since Scot Gary Anderson almost 10 years ago.
“It would be fantastic to win the World Cup back-to-back, but even if I don’t get in again, I can be proud of the season I played in them,” he holds off the pressure.
