SEOUL, Dec 16 (Yonhap) — South Korean international footballer Son Heung-min has made history at Tottenham Hotspur by becoming the club’s all-time assist leader, achieving his 68th assist in a match against Southampton this Sunday (local time). The previous record was held by Darren Anderton (1992-2004) with 67 assists.

During the match that took place yesterday at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, Son also netted a goal and provided two assists, setting a club record in the English Premier League. He started the match positioned on the left wing of the attack while wearing the captain’s armband. The Hotspurs clinched a resounding 5-0 victory over Southampton, who currently sit at the bottom of the English Championship for the 2024-2025 season.

Son scored his sixth goal of the season (5 goals in the Premier League and 1 in the Europa League) in the 12th minute after kick-off with a left-footed shot from near the penalty spot. With this goal, Son now boasts a total of 125 goals in the Premier League, placing him 18th on the all-time scoring list, tied with legendary French player Nicolas Anelka.
