«The exhibition was visible to everyone. Although we didn’t get points, unfortunately we didn’t make it. There were things that happened that we needed to improve on. We make individual mistakes, but that’s part of their growth. In the end, we lost due to details against a team with a lot of quality like Sporting.
Augusto Dabó and Bruno Onyemaechi, two full-backs, played together on the left. Is it a bet to keep?
«We’ll see about the next games. What led me to go in that direction was having more offensive weight. Bruno helps further forward, as seen with the goal. If we limited ourselves to defending, we wouldn’t achieve anything, so that was my idea».
There are no moral victories, but only two teams have scored more than two goals this season in Alvalade. Arsenal and now Boavista…
«I can’t forget that I’m Italian, I’m very pragmatic. All of this is true, the exhibition was visible to everyone, but we missed the details. I can’t forget that we lost the game.
Boavista reacted well to the goals and in the end complained about a penalty. Would a draw be fairer?
“I’m not talking about the penalty, I’m not going to say anything. We could have tied, yes, so until the end we showed it was our soul, the soul of Boavista. The players believed until the end, it’s a fantastic group that, as you know, is in a very difficult situation».
Do these two goals give the team morale?
«We don’t score, when we don’t win, we don’t have to be happy. The team knows that the road is long and very difficult. What we are doing is daily growth work, that is the main objective. As I said, we still need to work out the details so we can get further ahead».
