Pope's visit to Corsica: the Isle of Beauty prepares for a historic day

Tens of thousands of Corsicans are rejoicing on the eve of the arrival of the head of the Catholic Church, Sunday December 15. In Ajaccio, the faithful are in turmoil.
In the center of the nave, the pope's chair is in a prominent place. 8000 faithful will face him tomorrow. Everyone puts their talent at the service of the event, like the 220 singers of a choir who will sing seven polyphonic songs. A few steps away, Pascale Giorgi, chosen by the bishopric to prepare the meal which will be served to the pope and his fifteen companions on Sunday lunchtime, is already in the kitchen. “There will be cold meats with ham, pâté de tête, then Corsican beans and especially seven-hour lamb, with small vegetables”she confides.
The public mass will take place at the Casone green theater. 200 pilgrims arrived on the afternoon of Saturday December 14 in Ajaccio. On Sunday December 15, the Corsican railway company will deploy a new system, while car traffic in the city will be prohibited. Exceptional logistics for the Isle of Beauty which is about to experience a memorable day.
