Eager to remain undefeated at home and end the year on a high note, Amiens SC was trapped by Laval (1-3)this Friday on the occasion of the 16th day of Ligue 2. And if the arbitration will undoubtedly be talked about in the Picardy ranks, the lack of control of emotions after Leautey's equalizer will also have to be taken into account.
Amiens SC caught cold…
Building on its extremely positive record so far at home, with five victories in seven matches, Amiens hoped to celebrate with its public – present in numbers once is not customary – for the last home match in 2024. Nothing happened. From the sixth minute of play, Laval opened the scoring through Camara. After a cross from Vargas, launched behind the defense, the former QRM player beat Chabane in the air and beat Gurtner with the help of the crossbar (0-1).
Less than five minutes later, Frapolli's men came close to doubling the lead, this time through Doucoure, still served by Vargas (10'). Struggling to emerge from its torpor, Amiens really accelerated at the end of the first period, in the wake of Kaiboue who tried his luck from distance twice (33', 41'). It remained too timid to fail an impeccable Samassa to intervene in front of Mafouta (52′), before being hit by Dao (59′).
…and finally punished with the gong
Still author of a good entry into play, the former Toulouse player finally turned into a decisive passer. At the end of an individual exploit on the left side, the young attacker crossed back for a victorious recovery from Leautey (72′), author of his fifth goal of the season. And while Amiens gave the feeling of being able to take the upper hand, the sky fell on their heads in the last quarter of an hour. The fault was a conceded touch, hotly contested for a high foot from Tchokounté, which led to the second Laval goal, scored by Thomas (1-2, 85′).
And as if that wasn't enough, Camara scored a double on a penalty conceded by Urhoghide, taken by Tchokounté's hook (1-3, 89'). Before that, Kaiboue was sent off for protest after the opponent's second goal. Don't throw any more away, the cup is full and the party is totally ruined. After seven matches, the unbeaten streak at home came to an abrupt end, at the worst possible time, just before the winter break. Enough to tarnish the results of a nonetheless encouraging first part of the season.
