The day after the announcement of the end of the procedure for alleged rape against Kylian Mbappé “for lack of evidence”, the Swedish newspaper Expressen reveals several details about the evening of October 9 from the point of view of the complainant. Aged around twenty years old according to the Swedish newspaper, the complainant was part of a group of around twenty women invited to a special event at the “V” nightclub in the Swedish capital. All would have been made aware of the presence of a world star, without knowing his identity at the start. In the table tennis room, a separate part of the nightclub, the atmosphere was visibly great, with music, dancing, table tennis and beer pong.
Mbappé's entourage “didn't have much respect” for girls
Described as “happy” and “relaxed” during this evening, Kylian Mbappé would have danced and played ping-pong, while chatting with many people, reports Expressen based on the complainant's account. The attacker was present with Nordi Mukiele, a security guard and an assistant. “You could see they were on all the girls and didn't have much respect for them,” a witness said of the player's entourage.
Still according to testimonies, six women were selected to continue the evening in Kylian Mbappé's suite at the Bank hotel. Among them, the complainant, who reveals that she danced with the player and that the two kissed. A few minutes later, the woman went to the toilet and found herself alone with the Frenchman in the bathroom. The latter gave a detailed account of what happened to the police, which led to the opening of a rape investigation. She notably claimed to have been clear about her refusal to have a sexual relationship with the former Parisian. The incident lasted a few minutes, then Mbappé left the room, according to the woman.
The complainant finally filed a complaint two days later, for rape and two cases of sexual harassment. During her first contacts with the police, she worried about her own safety if she accused a world-famous person of rape. “I found it so disgusting, I felt disgusted and everything was disgusting,” she said, admitting to having discussed with a friend what had happened. “I couldn’t hold it in, I started crying and I needed to vent.”
End of the complainant's collaboration
Joined by BFMTV, Marina Chirakova, Stockholm prosecutor, justified the decision to close the investigation, without ever giving Mbappé's name. “I will not confirm who the suspect was. The investigation is closed because I found that the evidence collected is not sufficient to continue the investigations, so I decided to stop the preliminary investigation.” She explains that the Real Madrid player was never questioned, in the absence of formal suspicion. “Without this, we are not authorized to question him,” she explained.
