- The Swiss national team will face Sweden, Slovenia and Kosovo in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
- The campaign will start on March 17th, Switzerland will not start until September.
- The World Cup finals will take place from June 11th to July 19th in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The Swiss national team knows their opponents in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. In Zurich, coach Murat Yakin’s team was drawn from Pot 1 into Group B and will face Sweden, Slovenia and Kosovo. Here are the first facts about the opponents:
- Sweden:
With 11 wins, 7 draws and 11 defeats, the record against the Scandinavians is balanced. The last 16 duel at the 2018 World Cup, which Switzerland lost 0-1, is badly remembered. The national team celebrated their last victory in 1994 in the European Championship qualification. - Slovenia:
Switzerland won 6 of 9 duels and drew once. The last time the national team played against the Slovenians was in the 2014/15 European Championship qualification. The result was a 0-1 defeat away and a 3-2 win at home. - Kosovo:
All 3 meetings ended in a draw; the last time the two teams met was in qualifying for the 2024 European Championship. The team from Kosovo is trained by ex-FCZ coach Franco Foda.
Since Switzerland was drawn into a group of four, the 6 games will be played in September, October and November. Test matches will take place in March and June. The exact game dates are still open.
Definitive groups only after the Nations League quarter-finals
The participants in eight groups have not yet been definitely determined. The reason for this is the quarter-finals in the Nations League, which were held for the first time. Therefore, placeholders were drawn for the time being. Which group Italy, Germany, Denmark, Portugal, Croatia, France, the Netherlands and Spain will be in will only be determined after the quarter-finals.
The twelve group winners qualify directly for the World Cup. The twelve group runners-up will play for the remaining four places together with the four best-placed group winners of the 2024/25 Nations League who have not already qualified for the final round or the playoffs.
