The Pope will go to , in Corsica, on Saturday December 14. The sovereign pontiff must participate in a Congress on religiosity in the Mediterranean. His arrival triggers increased security.

Three days before the Pope's historic visit to Corsica, this is THE question that agitates Ajaccio, Thursday December 12: who is one of the 8,000 lucky people who will attend mass in public on Sunday? Before the public celebration, the Pope will pass through Ajaccio Cathedral for a time of contemplation with the religious. No false note either in securing the event. No less than 100,000 people are expected in the streets of the city on Sunday and the prefecture announces the arrival of 2,000 additional law enforcement officers.

Gendarmes have arrived from and will be accommodated on a ferry. Pope Francis chose a Corsican airline to fly to Ajaccio from Rome, a unique trip for the crew. The cost of the Pope's visit to Corsica is estimated at 2 million euros by the bishopric, which has already collected almost half thanks to its donation campaign launched less than a month ago.
