In “Never without my psychiatrist”, Christian Clavier and Baptiste Lecaplain form an explosive duo. Between humor and emotions, this new comedy by Arnaud Lemort explores the limits of medical confidentiality and family relationships.
Christian Clavier plays Olivier Béranger, a psychologist struggling with his own torments. “He’s a psychologist who needs a psychologist himself.”confides the actor. Despite his talent, Olivier reaches his limits when faced with a particularly fragile patient, Damien Leroy, played by Baptiste Lecaplain. After five years of intense therapy, he decided to break off their collaboration. But everything changes when Damien reappears… in the guise of his daughter’s boyfriend. “Medical secrecy prevents him from saying anything. He spends the wedding anniversary weekend with this boy who he absolutely wants to get rid of”summarizes Clavier.
The film marks the second collaboration between Christian Clavier and director Arnaud Lemort, after “Ibiza”. Christian Clavier, who is also involved in rewriting the dialogue, praises the cohesion of the team: “I always work like that. I try as much as possible to immerse myself in the characters.” Baptiste Lecaplain does not hide his admiration for his partner: “It’s quite tasty when Christian puts his nose in the dialogues”. Before adding: “It’s a childhood dream to film with Christian, I make no secret of it. I discovered him at the cinema at eight years old when I discovered him in the film ‘Les Visiteurs’ (…) I “I was able to see the maestro at work and it’s really impressive to see.”
The film, which hits theaters next Wednesday, also brings together Cristiana Reali, who plays Olivier’s wife, and young talents like Claire Chust and Rayane Bensetti. “There is a real troop”rejoices Clavier. Shot between Brussels and the shores of Lake Geneva, “Jamais sans mon psy” benefits from careful artistic direction. “It brings another character to the film and above all, it gave us an absolutely incredible working comfort.”underlines Baptiste Lecaplain.
