Ilzer: “The team has rewarded itself”

That’s what the players and coaches said after the 1-1 draw at Borussia Dortmund.

Alexander Prass: “We were good in the game from the start. It’s obviously bitter to start the second half like this, but the belief was always there. We created a lot of chances and then equalized. We have to optimize our game. The automatisms now work a little better. The coaching team isn’t where it wants to be yet, but it’s getting better. It was very good against Freiburg and today too.”

Adam Hložek: “That was a tough game. We had many chances to take the lead. Our goal to make it 1-1 in stoppage time and the point was deserved. We practiced the long throw-in in front of the goal in training. I’m happy for the coaching team and for us that things worked out in the game.”

Jacob Bruun Larsen: “We all know how difficult it is in Dortmund. This is a top international team. We made it difficult for them and I think it’s okay for us to take a point. I’m glad I was able to help as Joker. We had a tough program, now for the first time in a long time we have a full week of training in preparation. We want to win against Gladbach next week.”

Christian Ilzer: “We played a good game, even a very good one at times. The team was rewarded for a good performance. The starting phase was very courageous. We kept the game very open. However, we still have to keep the opposing goalkeeper busy and need more efficiency. It was a very good performance. We knew we would also need the guys from the bench. It’s a sense of achievement for us, it gives us a boost. We’re stuck behind and want to free ourselves as quickly as possible. The boys are taking it well.”

Nuri Sahin (Trainer Borussia Dortmund): “Today it wasn’t good from us from the first to the last minute. There is no explanation for this. You have to defend against that and win a game like that. Our positional play in the first half wasn’t good. I didn’t feel any real energy. Nevertheless, we take the lead and then have to win. Then no one will talk about it anymore.”
