Sunderland head to Swansea City in the Championship on Saturday. And after a mixed performance against Bristol City in midweek, Regis Le Bris may have a few changes in mind.
Sunderland have now won just one of their last eight in the Championship and find themselves four points behind leaders Leeds United.
On Tuesday night, Patrick Roberts scored a late equaliser for Sunderland as they eventually drew 1-1 with Bristol City at the Stadium of Light.
The game has since received a very mixed reaction from Sunderland fans who’ve well and truly seen results drop off in recent weeks; just a few weeks ago, the Black Cats had a five point lead at the top of the Championship table.
Sunderland take on Swansea City in Wales next. The Swans currently sit in 9th place of the table and go into this weekend unbeaten in their last four, winning 2-1 at Plymouth Argyle in midweek.
Early Sunderland team and injury news ahead of Swansea City clash
The Black Cats are taking a few injuries into their game against Swansea City, with Tommy Watson now an injury concern for Sunderland after he was forced off in the first half against Bristol City.
Summer signings Salis Abdul Samed, Ian Poveda, Alan Browne and Ahmed Abdullahi are all injured, whilst Niall Huggins and Jenson Seelt are longer-term absentees for the Black Cats.
Luke O’Nien missed the Bristol City game through illness but seems likely to return against Swansea City on Saturday.
Sunderland predicted lineup vs Swansea City, Wilson Isidor dropped
Sunderland fans were critical of Wilson Isidor’s performance against Bristol City on Tuesday night, as the striker goes five games without a goal.
It was arguably his worst performance of the season. But it summed up his performances in the last few weeks with the striker having not been as influential as he was a month or so ago.
And Le Bris my change both of his wingers that started the Bristol City game: Watson because of injury and Eliezer Mayenda because he simply wasn’t effective out on the flank.
There’s calls for Adil Aouchiche to feature for Sunderland on Saturday after his impressive cameo off the bench against Bristol City, and he may even start on the flank with the likes of Mundle still injured.
Also expect Dennis Cirkin to return to the starting XI, with the left-back having started the last two on the bench following surgery on a broken wrist.
