“Stade Brestois, European Cup, Stade Brestois European Cup”. This song chanted by the thousands of Brest supporters at Roudourou in Guingamp is one of the illustrations of the already successful European campaign. For its first participation, Brest, it is four victories, a draw and a defeat in six matches in this brand new phase of the Champions League. An extraordinary record that surpasses many disappointing club performances in recent years.

If we still have to prove that money is not everything in football, Brest is the perfect example. For the 2024-2025 financial year, the club has a budget of 48 million euros, far from the hundreds of millions of PSG, Monaco or Lyon and Marseille. Thanks to his performances, the club has already won 28.62 million euros.
In detail, it is 18.62 million euros for its qualification in the league phase, 2.1 million euros per victory, or already 8.4 million with four matches won, 700,000 euros for its draw at Bayer Leverkusen, and finally a million euros for qualifying for the play-offs. If Brestois win their play-off and qualify for the round of 16, they could win 11 million.
But if Brest qualifies directly for the eighth by finishing in the first eight, they will pocket not one, but two million euros and another amount acquired thanks to their final place in the standings. The last one will receive 275,000 euros while the best ranked of the 36 participants will receive 36 million euros. Added to its millions of euros are TV rights and ticketing revenue.
On a sporting level, Stade Brestois has, in a way, two faces. The flamboyant in the Champions League, like this last match against PSV Eindhoven where the values and qualities recalled the club's journey in Ligue 1 last season. But in Ligue 1, it's more complicated, Brest is only 11th, three points behind the play-off.
The European Cup journeys, and especially the repetition of matches for several months, tire the organizations. Proof of this was the seven absent last night against PSV. For the rest of the competition, the newspaper l'Équipe announced that the Stade de France was targeted to dream even bigger.
