The 13-year-old girl was found in Coutances (Manche) this Tuesday, December 10, two weeks after her disappearance. “It’s a very, very beautiful day for me and for his family,” declared the mayor of Pabu, a village in Côtes-d’Armor where Morgane comes from.

“An immense satisfaction” and “an immense relief”. These were the reactions of the mayor of Pabu (Côtes-d'Armor) when he learned that Morgane had been found alive this Tuesday morning, two weeks after the disappearance of the 13-year-old girl. “It’s a very, very beautiful day for me and for her family, for everyone who knows her,” Pierre Salliou told journalists.

Missing since November 25, Morgane was found in a home for young workers in Coutances (Manche), about 200 kilometers from Pabu, the village where she comes from and where she lives with her parents. The Côtes-d'Armor gendarmerie clarified that the teenager is “in good health”.

While the search to find Morgane mobilized up to 70 gendarmes on the ground, the councilor also “praised” the action “of the gendarmerie and the investigators because they did an immense job”.

“I take my hat off to the gendarmerie and I also take my hat off to all those who participated in the search,” he added, a hunt to find the teenager having brought together some 800 people.

“We came to imagine the worst”

“The more the days passed, the more anxiety grew,” admitted Pierre Salliou. “We came to imagine the worst. The worst was also not knowing in the end. We had no leads.”

After 15 days of disappearance, relief: Morgane, 13, found alive

According to him, the atmosphere in the village of around 2,700 inhabitants was “very, very heavy” over the last two weeks because the “anxiety” was “very widely shared”. “Everyone was also wondering what had happened,” confirms a municipal employee, who also says he is “relieved to see that it’s a story that ends rather well.”

It was also a time of relief this Tuesday in front of the Albert-Camus college in Graces, the establishment in which Morgane attends school and located a few kilometers from her home.

The mother of Morgane's best friend recounts, for example, having had to “often console” her daughter and having “tried to reassure her to give her hope of (…) seeing again” Morgane: “All the scenarios were running through her head.”

Her daughter “is very eager” to see Morgane again, she emphasizes. And the schoolgirl is not the only one who wants to find the teenager missing for two weeks as quickly as possible: “There are many friends waiting for her.”
