The A13 motorway passed a “free flow” toll on Tuesday over 210 km, without barriers, between Poissy and Caen, announced its manager Sanef.
“The A13 motorway switched to free-flow toll last night, six months after the A14”, we can read in this press release, which removes “the constraint of stopping at tolls, a first in France” , six months after a first section on the A14 leaving Paris towards Normandy.
“The five toll barriers on the A13 between Poissy and Caen (Buchelay, Heudebouville, Incarville, Beuzeville and Dozulé) have switched to free flow” according to the same document, “the traditional toll barriers are disappearing in favor of gantries which detect the electronic toll badges and identify vehicle registration plates to determine the toll amount.
Sanef explains that payment is made after the journey, “either with an electronic toll badge which allows automatic monthly billing”, or on the Sanef website by “automatic payment after each passage or by associating its license plate with its bank card”, or at a tobacconist.
“Each trip must be paid for within 72 hours,” the group detailed.
In 2022, the A79 between Allier and Saône-et-Loire, managed by Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône (APRR), became the first free-flow toll motorway in France.
