The evening of Sunday December 8, then the night of Sunday to Monday 9, were still eventful in the Pyrenees where the snowstorm continued. The accumulations are very high, from 800 meters, this Monday morning and the traffic conditions are often difficult.
Many areas are covered in snow. The roads there are closed or very slippery. Toulouse News takes stock.
Andorra road still closed
This Monday morning, access to Andorra is still impossible from France.
“Road access to Pas-de-la-Case as well as access to the Col de Puymorens from the place called “la crusade” (RN 20, RN320 and RN22) will remain closed to all motorists at least until Monday midday. Preventive avalanche triggering shots will take place before the road reopens,” the Ariège prefecture announced on Sunday.
Opening at midday, nothing is certain yet. The risk of avalanches is significant.
Haute-Garonne: slippery roads in Luchonnais
In Haute-Garonne, traffic is always difficult in Comminges and particularly, from 800 meters, in Luchonnais.
Traffic is difficult towards the Col de Mente and the Mourtis ski resort, which, as a reminder, is closed. A scraping is in progress announces the Department.
The road is also snow-covered in the Oueil valley, towards the Superbagnères station and towards the Col du Portillon.
Traffic “is tricky” towards the Col de Peyresourde.
The road to the port of Balès is closed.
Tarn: Snow on the Lacaune mountains
“It snowed on the heights of the Lacaune mountains, from 700-800 m, whitening the soil,” indicates Météo Sud Aveyron. The roads can therefore be slippery. Traffic is difficult on all the roads around Lacaune, particularly the climb towards the Col de Sié or the Bassine sector.
Ariège: Special equipment required in the mountains
In Ariège, in addition to the road to Andorra being closed, access to the Beille plateau is complicated. “Access is difficult, the road is partially snow-covered. Special equipment is mandatory,” indicates Info Route 09.
As a reminder, the Nordic ski resort is not yet open.
The Col de Pailhères is closed until December 12. It is also for the Col d'Agnès and the port of Lers which remain prohibited from access.
Traffic is impossible at the Col de Port, indicates the Department. Snowdrifts have formed. It’s the same thing towards Goulier Neige.
Traffic is difficult towards Ascou and the Chioula pass.
Aveyron: formation of snowdrifts
To the north of Aveyron, the Department noted the “formation of snowdrifts above 1000m altitude in the Aubrac and Carladez territories” on Sunday evening.
“The roads are at the end of their treatment,” he announced.
The same Department noted the “presence of a thin layer of snow on the territory of South Lévézou”. The roadways were being treated.
