Mohamed Salah would have made his decision

Despite Saudi pressure and rumors of interest from PSG, Mohamed Salah, at the end of his contract next summer, should stay at Liverpool. The English press announces an agreement around a two-year extension.

For Liverpool supporters, the weekend started with sad news: the postponement of the derby against Everton due to torrential rain and strong winds caused by Storm Darragh. All it took was information published on Saturday evening by The Mirror, and quickly confirmed by part of the English press including The Daily Mail, for them to smile again.

Despite the Saudi sirens, and other rumors suggesting a possible interest from PSG, Mohamed Salah would be on the verge of extending his adventure on the banks of the Mersey. While the Egyptian's current contract runs until June 2025, the two parties have reportedly reached an agreement to return for two more years. Arriving in 2017 for 50 million euros from Roma, the 32-year-old striker could therefore complete a decade of success with the Reds.

In recent weeks, however, his speeches had kept his future unclear, even if many had seen it as a way – more or less subtle – of putting pressure on its leaders at the heart of the negotiations. “It’s almost December and I haven’t yet received any offers to stay at the club. I’m probably closer to leaving than staying,” he said at the end of November.

Two more big files to manage for Liverpool

Rebelote a week later after the 2-0 victory against the Skyblues: “It was perhaps the last match against Manchester City that I played for Liverpool (at Anfield). The atmosphere was incredible, so I will take advantage of every second here and if we just win the championship, we'll see what happens.” The Reds' highest paid player, with a salary today estimated at 400,000 pounds per week by The Mirror (or 480,000 euros), Salah would have initially liked to extend it for three years, before accepting this new two-year lease. .

This matter settled, unless the situation changes in the coming days, Liverpool, at the top of the Premier League and the Champions League, still have two big issues on the table: the situations of Trent Alexander-Arnold (26 years old) and Virgil Van Dijk (33 years old), who also reach the end of their contract in six months. The English international is notably cited by Real Madrid, always so fond of free players.
