The head coach of Bologna, Vincenzo Italiano, commented on DAZN regarding the away draw against Juventus (2:2), as the “rossoblu” came very close to victory against the team of his former coach, Thiago Motta, following goals from Dan Ndoye and Tommaso Pobega. However, Teun Koopmeiners brought intrigue back into the match, and in stoppage time, Samuel Mbangula literally snatched the victory from the guests.
– We were very close to a remarkable victory, and for two-thirds of the game, we fully deserved it. But we were punished for what we allowed Juventus to do, and it’s particularly unfortunate that it happened during one of the last attacks when “Juve” had possession of the ball. It feels like we lost two points, although overall the boys had a good match – it’s exactly what I wanted from them, and we need to build on such performances. Moreover, we have another big game awaiting us on Wednesday, and we need to learn lessons from this experience against Juventus. The team wants to improve, but if we had more time for training, we would have made a few small steps forward already. Unfortunately, Juventus never gives up, and what we did wasn’t enough to secure us the win. We now have seven draws in the league, so I’m not a hundred percent satisfied – we were in a situation where we needed to secure the win at all costs. However, on the other hand, this was a different approach compared to our previous matches against big teams – and I’m pleased with the improvements I see. We will continue to work on the other details.
