Peter Bosz has acknowledged after PSV – FC Twente that his team is in shape. The coach saw the joy radiating from his group of players, and has noticed in almost everything in recent weeks that the real hunger is fully back in Eindhoven. He also discussed his choice not to let Jerdy Schouten make his return yet.
“You can say that we are in shape,” Bosz said at ESPN. With the stamp ‘top form’ the trainer is even more careful. He does feel that things are now changing in Eindhoven. “The full focus, the hard work, giving the maximum,” he answers when asked about what was missing at the start of the season and is now there.
When ESPN interviewer Vincent Schildkamp says that he saw the ‘fun of playing’ at PSV, Bosz can be seen smiling. “Isn’t it much more fun to go for a 2-0 after a 1-0? That’s much more fun. I think that’s where you get your pleasure as a footballer.”
Bosz brought on Joey Veerman and Ivan Perisic in the second half, while other big names such as Hirving Lozano and Jerdy Schouten remained on the bench for ninety minutes. The latter should actually have come in. “I also had that in mind, but I was forced to replace Matteo Dams, who I had actually estimated at ninety minutes. And we really needed Mauro on Tuesday (Champions League match with Brest, ed.). one substitution too short to give Jerdy minutes.
‘Noa Lang started very badly’
Finally, Bosz briefly discussed Noa Lang. The latter was important with a goal and a wonderful assist, but according to his trainer, he started the match far from strong. “He started very badly. You don’t often see him start the match so badly, losing so much ball. And then he scores the equalizer again.”
