To unblock the situation in the National Assembly and reshuffle the cards of political balance, the deputy Ensemble Pour la République, Stéphane Vojetta, proposes that all parliamentarians resign collectively on January 1st.
Historic situation in the National Assembly, the deputies achieved the feat of overthrowing the government of Michel Barnier, the most short-lived Prime Minister of the Fifth Republic. To unblock the situation and the vote on the social security budget, Ensemble Pour la République (EPR) MP Stéphane Vojetta proposed to parliamentarians, this Thursday, December 5, a self-dissolution, as reported by The Huffington Post.
“Self-dissolution, or the collective resignation of the 577 deputies who form the National Assembly, is an unblocking option that no one mentions”he writes on X. “If we are unable to form a majority coalition by Christmas, then why not all resign simultaneously on January 1?”he specifies.
An impossible solution?
Indeed, the balance of political forces being frozen until the summer of 2025, due to the lack of being able to dissolve the Assembly before a year, the deputy proposes to return to face the voters. An unusual proposal which, in reality, has very little chance of happening. It indeed seems difficult to see all parliamentarians agreeing on such an option. In addition, nothing says that the result of the polls would be different from the anticipated legislative elections in the summer of 2024.
On the networks, LFI deputy Antoine Léaumant proposed an alternative solution: “The one who must resign is him”writes the elected official from Essonne, adding a photo of Emmanuel Macron.
