JEFFERSON, LEWIS & OSWEGO COUNTIES: WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 P.M. WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TO 4 A.M. EST FRIDAY.

* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 10 to 18-inches across the higher terrain of the Tug Hill Plateau, and 4 to 8-inches across lower elevations. Winds gusting as high as 45-mph will produce considerable blowing and drifting snow.

* WHERE…The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. The greatest accumulations will be across the higher terrain of the Tug Hill Plateau.

* WHEN…From 1 P.M. this afternoon to 4 A.M. EST Friday.

* IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds will down tree branches and cause isolated power outages.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Widespread accumulating snow will create dangerous travel conditions.

OLD FORGE/WESTERN ADIRONDACKS: WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 P.M. WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TO 4 A.M. EST FRIDAY.

* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 14-inches with locally higher amounts. Winds gusting as high as 35-mph.

* WHERE…Hamilton, Northern Fulton, and Northern Herkimer Counties.

* WHEN…From 1 P.M. this afternoon to 4 A.M. EST Friday.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow will begin to overspread the area from west to east this afternoon and continue into Thursday morning then transition to lake effect snow showers Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. Localized snow squalls may be possible Thursday morning. Gusty winds on Thursday may lead to blowing and drifting snow. Snowfall rates with lake effect snow could exceed 1 inch per hour at times.

* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 16-inches. Winds gusting as high as 35-mph.

* WHERE…Northern Oneida County.

* WHEN…From 1 P.M. this afternoon to 4 A.M. EST Friday.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Light snow will develop this afternoon, increasing in intensity this evening. Embedded snow squalls may reduce visibility to near zero at times Thursday morning. Winds will become increasingly gusty Thursday, as the event transitions to lake effect snow.
