Stephanie Planckaert and Ender Scholtens dare to climb Kilimanjaro in ‘The backpack’

VRT previously announced that former Miss Belgium and presenter Véronique De Kock and Radio 2 presenter Xavier Taveirne are attempting to climb the legendary mountain, now two more names have been added. Stephanie Planckaert, known for her own surname and presentation work, and podcast maker and influencer Ender Scholtens also do it without climbing experience. They are guided by experienced mountaineer Sofie Lenaerts, also the first woman from the Benelux to climb the seven summits, and wildlife cameraman Pim Niesten.

Emotional baggage

During the tour, participants wear a backpack equipped with “intelligent camera systems that closely record the emotions of the climbers during the entire tour.” The backpacks symbolize the imaginary baggage that the BVs carry with them and contain tubes that were filled by friends, family and colleagues from home. The contents are only revealed during the journey.

The other well-known Flemish people who are attempting the climb will be announced this week.

The backpack can be seen on VRT 1 and VRT MAX at the end of this year.
