Remco Evenepoel is involved in an accident during training and is taken to hospital
A false note long before the new season starts. Remco Evenepoel fell during training. The Olympic champion (24) has been taken to hospital, where the damage is being assessed.
Remco Evenepoel was training when he was involved in an accident. This happened in Oetingen, in the province of Flemish Brabant.
Evenepoel is said to have collided with a Bpost car on Kerkplein. It is not yet clear how the accident occurred.
“We don’t know anymore,” is the first reaction from father Patrick Evenepoel. Remco was taken to the Erasmus Hospital in Anderlecht. This is followed by medical check-ups.
The Olympic champion was conscious the entire time and sat upright. It seems that the doomsday scenarios may be scrapped.
In the meantime, Evenepoel’s parents are said to have already received a message. “According to what I heard, he fell due to the van door swinging open,” said Patrick Evenepoel.
