The First Secretary of the PS wants Emmanuel Macron to appoint “a left-wing Prime Minister” but open “to compromise” with the central bloc in Parliament in the event of the overthrow of the Barnier government in the coming days.

“It’s the Popular Front in government and the Republican Front in the Assembly. This is how we can progress,” summarized Olivier Faure on BFMTV/RMC.

The President of the Republic must “appoint a left-wing Prime Minister” who “proposes a left-wing project but with a permanent concern for compromise”, he insisted.

Mr. Faure confirmed that the socialists would vote without hesitation for censorship of the government with the National Rally.

“The Barnier government only existed thanks to Marine Le Pen. It will fall because of Marine Le Pen (…) I am not going to complain now about Michel Barnier who only owes his existence to Marine Le Pen “, he said.

If Emmanuel Macron offers him Matignon, Olivier Faure will take “his responsibilities like all those who, on the left today, must take if they are called by the President of the Republic”.

Unlike Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Olivier Faure is hostile to an early presidential election because “Marine Le Pen can win” and a left-wing president will not have a majority, due to a lack of possible dissolution before the summer.
