The draw for the next round of the Coupe de France delivered its verdict on Monday. And on the menu, there will be two big shocks just before Christmas for the entry of Ligue 1 clubs into the competition.
Lens against PSG and Saint-Etienne against Marseille will thus be the two posters for the 32nd finals. The meetings will take place from Friday December 20 to Sunday December 22.
Little Thumb is waiting for Monaco
The Bordelais of Union Saint-Jean, a Regional 1 club (6th division), designated Little Thumb of the Cup, will also host AS Monaco, currently 3rd in Ligue 1, while Still-Mutzig, another R1 club , will host the Stade de Reims.
Two other R1 clubs, Tours and Mérignac, will respectively meet Lorient and Laval, two Ligue 2 clubs, while the Haut Lyonnais club, in National 3 (5th division), will host Toulouse (L1). Bordeaux, relegated to National 2, will host Rennes, 12th in Ligue 1.
The final is at 12 pm
Two overseas clubs are still in the race and will play their 32nd final in mainland France: Saint-Denis de la Réunion will face Cabourg (N3) and Saint-Joseph in Martinique will go to Corsica to challenge Bastia, a Ligue 2 club.
The Coupe de France final is scheduled for May 24 at the Stade de France. The draw for the 32nd finals was made by PSG footballer Griedge Mbock and handball player Elohim Prandi at the Parc des Princes, the venue of PSG, defending champions.
