VACLAV CERNY has hailed an important three points as Rangers took a step closer to Europa League qualification this evening.

The Gers were rampant throughout as they claimed an impressive 4-1 away win over to move them onto 10 points after five matches played.

Speaking to RangersTV to look back on the win on a night he opened the scoring, he said: “First of all it was a massive win, a very important three points, which puts us much closer to what we want to achieve.

“Very good teamwork and team effort and a brilliant result.

“We had a game plan and stuck to it.

“The result is that we are a very tough team to play against and we showed that and again it is such an important win.”

The Czech Republic international highlighted the clinical edge his team had in front of goal on the night, whilst heaping praise on teammate Hamza Igamane for scoring twice on his first European start.

He continued: “I am very happy for him, the whole squad and the team we knew what we were going to do and for him as a striker, very important that he is on the scoring sheet but I think that the most important thing is the team performance.

“We were very effective today and that is what we needed.

“That is what you need in such a game so all positive about that.”

The Gers now turn attention to their weekend fixture away to St Johnstone and the 27-year-old says full focus is now on that match.

He added: “It is very important, now it is a recovery period, fly back home and full focus on Sunday and confirm that we are in a good shape and switch on the league again.”
