“I was inspired by Jean-Paul Belmondo and Mel Gibson”: How Florent Peyre approached his role in “Commandant Saint-Barth” on TF1

He was looking forward to this role. Florent Peyre took the opportunity to show the extent of his palette in “Commandant Saint-Barth”, a mini-series broadcast on TF1 since Thursday November 21. The actor and comedian, revealed in “We only ask to laugh”, enjoys portraying this willingly histrionic investigator with questionable methods in the lush vegetation of Guadeloupe. And to lend his features to this atypical character, he allowed himself to be influenced by aces in the field. ”I was inspired by Jean-Paul Belmondo and Mel Gibson – some of their characters were sometimes excited at the idea of getting into a bit of trouble! – to be able to compose and develop the energy of Commander Saint-Barth”, recognized with “Télé-Loisirs” the hero of this six-episode detective series. He himself participated in the stunts, blocking his back from the start of filming, despite four months of preparation.

Admiring the work of Audrey Fleurot

Florent Peyre therefore took bits of “Bebel” and the interpreter of “Mad Max” to compose this zany policeman adept at compromising situations. “There is that too in this character. We say to him: 'no waves, Saint-Barth, no waves.' Well, behind it, he goes on and makes waves! We see him having fun like a kid doing something stupid. Fortunately, it always ends well. He only does stupid things to help the investigations move forward…” he explains.

But when reading the script for “Commandant Saint-Barth”, the ex-candidate for “Dancing with the Stars” immediately made the link with “HPI”, another TF1 fiction, which he particularly appreciates for its heroine. “I find that Audrey Fleurot carries her character wonderfully. She is very strong in comedy, she is super sexy, and above all, she is super powerful in her role,” he flatters, seeing in his mini-series “the same potential for comedy and sexy”.

What score for the launch of “Commandant Saint-Barth”?

If Gabriel Saint-Barthélémy cannot boast of the same phenomenal success as Morgane Alvaro, the pilot of his adventures nevertheless brought on board 4.08 million curious people on November 21. A successful launch even if more than a million viewers left after the first episode. Let's see if his floral shirts and his ultra bright smile will hit the mark for episodes 3 and 4 scheduled for this Thursday evening.
