The body of a young 39-year-old journalist was discovered lifeless at her home in (Bouches-du-Rhône). An investigation has been opened and an autopsy will soon be carried out.

This is news that has caused astonishment in the ranks of journalists and documentarians, especially in the south-east. Marine Vlahovic, a journalist and documentary filmmaker aged only 39, was found dead in her home on Monday, November 25. The lifeless body of the thirty-year-old was on the roof terrace of her apartment which is located in the 1st arrondissement of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), tell our colleagues from Provence.

It was her friends who, without news, went there to find out if the journalist was well. According to the first elements of the investigation, the death of Marine Vlahovic could go back several days. An investigation has been opened but for the moment, “no evidence indicates a criminal trail”, says a police source to our colleagues. An autopsy was requested.

“His work will be missed”

The thirty-year-old worked as an independent journalist. She had, among other things, worked for ARTE Radio: in a podcast, she recounted her experience as a journalist in Ramallah in the West Bank from 2016 to 2019. She had left Palestine to settle in Marseille. “We sorely miss our friend Marine, just as the audio documentary landscape will miss her work,” commented ARTE Radio. “The whole team is thinking of her family and loved ones and shares their grief.”

The media Radio Internationale (RFI) with which she had collaborated hails a “committed journalist with great sensitivity, one who admirably knew how to find the small stories to tell the big one”.
