PSV Eindhoven scored three goals after the 86th minute, including a 95th-minute winner, to recover from 2-0 down and beat Shakhtar Donetsk in a remarkable match in the Champions League.
Danylo Sikan gave the visitors the lead after eight minutes when he turned in Yukhym Konoplya’s low cross.
Shakhtar doubled their advantage just before half-time when Konoplya set up Oleksandr, who curled an effort past PSV keeper Walter Benitez.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 69th minute when Pedrinho was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Johan Bakayoko.
And the sending off sparked a dramatic comeback as midfielder Malik Tillman scored in the 87th minute and then equalised with a stunning strike three minutes later.
Five minutes of injury-time were added on and, with fewer than 30 seconds until the full-time whistle, substitute Ricardo Pepi bundled in PSV’s third to complete the comeback.
It meant PSV became the first ever team to win a Champions League match despite being two goals down in the 86th minute.
The result also stretched the Dutch champions’ impressive unbeaten run at home to 47 matches.
They last lost at Philips Stadium in November, 2022 (1-0 to AZ Alkmaar under Ruud van Nistelrooy).
