There once was a time Walmart shoppers could get a jump start on their holiday shopping on Thanksgiving Day itself. Or, they could fight the crowds for the best deal on a TV or that season’s must-have-doll at the stroke of midnight on Black Friday.
Those days are long gone.

Instead, Walmart and so many other retailers are now opting to close their doors on Thanksgiving and have opted for more reasonable Black Friday hours as more shoppers are looking online for bargains.
“Walmart stores will be closed once again on Thanksgiving Day so associates can spend the day with their families,” the company said in a statement released earlier this year.
Walmart is closed on Thanksgiving Day but is offering deals online at Walmart.com. Stores will reopen on Black Friday at 6 a.m.
Cyber Monday – the biggest online sale – will start Sunday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. CT) for paid Walmart+ members and 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT) for all customers on Walmart.com and the Walmart app.
So what should you do if you realize you have to grab a few things for the big meal? Most Dollar Generals and 24-hour Walgreen locations are open. Some CVS stores will be open and Kroger locations are open but will have shortened hours.
