Welcome to Tout-, a Parisian cabaret drowning in rhinestones and feathers… but above all in debt! Heir to this establishment in which he wore out his short pants between dancers and knife throwers, and which is the starting point of This is Paristhe 2 series to discover from this Wednesday, November 27, Gaspard Berthille, played by Alex Lutzplans to sell it to a supermarket brand. For Babeth, her adoptive mother portrayed by the happy grandmother Charlotte of Turckheimno question of burying twenty years of memories under mothballs! Worn by Dominique Besnehard, transformed into a deliciously wigged waiter, this six-episode format resurrects the magic of Parisian magazines, confronted with today's issues. It was at Paradis Latin that director Marc Fitoussi set up his cameras, while Kamel Ouali adjusted the choreographies to music composed by Bertrand Burgalat. Besides Line Renaud and Monica Bellucci in their own roles, all the actors, the ex-actor of Ten percent Nicolas Maury in the lead, seize this “comedy-nostalgia” to celebrate one of the last sanctuaries of diversity and tolerance that are cabarets.

Télé-Loisirs: You who have started at the café-theaterdid you know the world of cabarets?
Charlotte de Turckheim:
Not at all and I discovered a wonderful space of freedom, whatever your sexuality, your skin color, your nationality, your style… Everyone can come to the cabaret! There aren't many places in this world where you can show up as you are, without being judged. My beginnings at the Café de la gare helped me a lot to create this character, in the sense that, for five years, I was a bit like the mother of the whole troupe.

The least we can say is that you have worked on your look…
For me, the outfit makes the monk! To find the character, I always need to imagine his costume. For this one, I really wanted a physical transformation. As I have lots of wigs at home, I had fun experimenting to create a look between Anna Wintour, the fashion queen, and interior designer Andrée Putman. When I talked to director Marc Fitoussi about it, he had exactly the same references: our planets were aligned!

The series addresses the nudity of the dancers which does not please everyone. Where do you stand in this debate?
At the Cabaret, women and men are as naked as each other. The body is magnificent! And all cultures that consider women as a danger, it breaks my heart! I am so devastated that in Afghanistan, they no longer have the right to sing or talk to each other, that it was with joy that I participated in this project. For me, there is no subject, I think first of all those who dream of being able to experience their body in freedom.

Is freedom the value that definitively guides your life?
Absolutely ! One of the poisons of our profession is living in the eyes of others. The advantage of age is being able to allow yourself all the freedoms on the home stretch!
