The President of the Republic estimated this Wednesday that the government could be overthrown by a motion of censure “only with the support of the National Rally and the Socialist Party”.

The President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron considered this Wednesday, November 27 that a “motion of censure can only be passed with the support of the RN and the PS”. Remarks made during a mid-day lunch at the Élysée with deputies from the common base, according to participants in this event at the Palais.

Already this afternoon, government spokesperson Maud Bregeon pointed out the “unbelievable responsibility” of socialist deputies, calling on them to “break away from their link with rebellious ”.

A motion of censure if Michel Barnier uses 49.3

In an article published in Le Monde on November 21, representatives of the New Popular Front affirmed that “if Michel Barnier imposes his budget by 49.3, our parliamentary groups will table a motion of censure”. A widely possible option, because the Prime Minister assured in mid-November that he will “probably” use this article of the Constitution.

For her part, the leader of the deputies of the National Rally Marine Le Pen intends to wait for the joint committee to make its decision before planning to support or not a motion of censure. This commission must meet in the days following the solemn vote on the budget in the Senate on December 12. The far-right party is ready to join its votes with those of the left to bring down the government of Michel Barnier, assured Jean-Philippe Tanguy this Wednesday.
