VIDEO – Farmers invaded the center of Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) on Tuesday evening to dump hundreds of rubbish there. Yet another demonstration, this time called “dumpster festival”, to try to continue to make their demands heard.
The battle continues for farmers. Like many towns in France previously, Montauban, in Tarn-et-Garonne, in turn received a visit from at least 150 tractors this Tuesday, November 26, around 10 p.m. The operation was called “dumpster festival” by the FNSEA and the Young Farmers (JA), and aimed to invade the prefecture and the Departmental Directorate of Territories (DDT) with hundreds of trash.
“We said we were going up a notch”
The demonstrators first gathered in front of the Chamber of Agriculture in the early evening. The message has not changed since the start of the national mobilization, everyone denounces “fed up” general. “We were waiting for answers, we still haven't got any, so as promised, we said we were going up a notch, so tonight, it's delivery of gifts a little before Christmas», declares the president of FDSEA 82, Damien Garrigues. “We have guys who call us regularly, who are with the rope in their hands, ready to hang themselves. And I think now it's just not possible to wait like that. We need temporary measures to help us get through the economic crisis we are currently experiencing.“, he added.
The mobilization continues throughout France while waiting for changes. In Aude for example, early this Wednesday morning, around fifty young local farmers blocked the port of Port-la-Nouvelle, north of Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales). While in Nîmes (Gard), several public buildings such as the Nîmes Payment Services Agency or the local Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) were also blocked. the FNSEA plans actions until Thursday.
