Weather changes are expected in Uttarakhand starting from November 29, with light rainfall likely in the Himalayan regions due to the activation of Western Disturbance. This will likely bring down the temperature and reduce air pollution.
Uttarakhand weather: Amid continued dry spell, rain and snowfall expected after 29 Nov
Dehradun: With Uttarakhand experiencing a prolonged dry spell without rain or snowfall, a change in weather is anticipated after November 29. Although no rain is expected in the immediate future, the activation of a western disturbance from November 29 could alter the weather conditions in the Himalayan regions.
Meanwhile, frost is anticipated in the mountains, and fog in the plains will persist for the next few days. Notably, there has been no snowfall in the higher regions of Uttarakhand in last weeks, leaving the higher hills snowless even in the final days of November.
Cold is expected to intensify
With snowfall predicted in the higher hills, the temperature in Uttarakhand is expected to fall rapidly, which will likely lead to a reduction in air pollution. However, the Meteorological Department has forecasted that frost in the mountains and fog in the plains will persist for the next few days. Since the monsoon’s departure in early October, Uttarakhand has been experiencing drought, with most areas receiving no rainfall throughout October and November.
Chill has begun to intensify in the morning due to the frost
The chill has begun to intensify in the mornings and evenings in the hilly areas. Despite the lack of rain, the weather remains dry with both maximum and minimum temperatures above normal. The state has experienced prolonged dry conditions, with bright sunshine during the day. However, the mountainous regions are feeling an increase in chill during the mornings and evenings. Similarly, in the plains, the cold is noticeable in the mornings due to overnight frost.
The weather is expected to change soon
According to Bikram Singh, the Director of the Meteorological Center, the state will experience dry weather for the next few days. Some areas in the plains may see fog and mist, and frost is likely in the mountains. After November 29, a new western disturbance may become active in the Himalayan regions, potentially bringing light rain to some areas in plains and snowfall in hilly parts.
People are advised to prepare for the colder weather
After a long dry spell, Uttarakhand is expected to experience a change in weather. Therefore, it’s crucial to stay cautious about health as the cold and pollution levels rise. With temperatures set to drop in the coming days, people are advised to prepare for the colder weather.
