Do you allow a company like the Givaudan Sense Colour plant to return to the Clifton neighborhood?
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There comes a time when government finally has to make a tough decision folks, and we need that now.
Our elected politicians need to ask themselves, are the two lost lives and the tax dollars really worth it, versus the safety of everyone?
Do you allow a company like the Givaudan Sense Colour plant to return to the Clifton neighborhood?
Many residents are already loudly saying “no way” and I agree with them.
I know this plant has been there for decades, but during that time, Clifton has grown, becoming a great walking neighborhood with amazing coffee shops, restaurants, historic homes, plus the longtime Kentucky School for the Blind and the American Printing House for the Blind.
But sitting right in the middle of it all is a company capable of such a massive blast it shook homes miles away, shattered windows across the area, knocked out power, and sent as hulking piece of steel right out of the sky at 3 p.m.,
landing a like a meteor in a nearby back yard.
What if somebody had been walking between those homes? It was so possible.
My heart is with the families reeling from the deaths. They deserve the love of this community, and financial support from that company.
And its time for them to move to start the healing.
The plant had its chance after the fatal blast in 2003.
Who in Clifton wants to trust a second chance after this disaster?
That’s my “Proffitt Report” commentary.
