Jean-Noël Barrot affirms on franceinfo that “France will ensure the application of this ceasefire”.
France welcomes the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. “This agreement is the fruit of hard work, carried out over many months, it is a success for French diplomacy and we can be proud of it,” reacted Jean-Noël Barrot, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wednesday November 27 on franceinfo.
This truce had come into force a little earlier in Lebanon, 4 a.m. (3 a.m. Paris time). She interrupts more than a year of projectile exchanges along the border with Israel, and two months of military intervention by the Israeli army in Lebanon and the armed Lebanese movement supported by Iran.
During this interview, the head of French diplomacy also claimed that France was going “take your full part”et “ensure the application of this ceasefire and the creation of conditions allowing lasting peace in the region”.
“With this agreement, the work begins, and this requires a massive deployment of Lebanese forces”, judges the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. To disarm Hezbollah, Jean-Noël Barrot believes that the ceasefire is the first step. “We must then secure southern Lebanon,” but also participate in “recovery of the Lebanese state”.
