The government council has approved Swisslos funds totaling 330,300 francs for various projects.

As the city of Basel informs, the government council has received a contribution from the Swisslos Fund Basel for the 16th and final edition of the International Circus Festival Young Stage, which will take place from September 18th to 22nd, 2025 in the event hall of the Basel Trade Fair -City approved 130,000 francs and a deficit guarantee of 25,000 francs.

In the previous week, the Young Stage association also organized a performance by mobile circus troupes in the city center. The Young Stage is the largest and most important circus festival in Switzerland.

It offers talented young artists a platform to show their professional skills to a broad audience and the professional world. With the age limit of 27 years, the Circus Festival explicitly distinguishes itself by promoting young talent.

The government council also made a contribution of 85,000 francs to the New Orchestra Basel NOB association for two concerts in March and May 2025 at the Stadtcasino Basel.

As part of the “Imagine a better world” concert, the NOB and the pianist Ronald Brautigam will present, among other things, the premiere of a composition for John Lennon’s “Imagine”.

The concert “Peer Gynt” in turn presents Brahms’ “Double Concerto in A minor” and Grieg’s incidental music Peer Gynt. Grieg set to music the story of the dreamy farmer’s son who sets out on an adventurous journey to find happiness.

But only individual movements made it to the public, so the music can be rediscovered in a concert version.

The government council has also approved a contribution of 50,000 francs to the team KURT association for the “Himmelszelt – a pop-up cultural center” project, which will take place from July 5th to 27th, 2025 in Gundeldinger Margarethenpark.

As in 2024, the “sky tent” will host offers for families, an open living room, theater and concerts. The neighborhood population is involved through cooperation with initiatives and associations and volunteer work.

The government council has also approved the “Open House Basel 2025” event, which will take place on 24/25. May 2025 in the Basel region, a contribution of 30,000 francs was approved.

The Open House Basel association invites you to visit around 110 historical and contemporary buildings over a weekend or to be guided through the buildings. Visiting and taking part in guided tours are free of charge.
