Argentine football star Lionel Messi gets a new coach at Inter Miami with his former teammate and compatriot Javier Mascherano.
The American club from Major League Soccer (MLS) gave the 40-year-old a contract until the 2027 season. Most recently, Mascherano was responsible for the U-20 national team and the Olympic team of his home country. Mascherano played for the top clubs FC Liverpool and FC Barcelona, among others. His greatest successes include winning the Champions League twice and five championships in the Spanish league.

At the Catalans he was a teammate of current Miami professionals Messi, whose contract is valid until the end of 2025, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez. They all won the treble together at Barca in the 2014/15 season.
“Throughout his career as one of the best players in the world and an experienced coach, Javier has always demonstrated what makes him great: tireless determination with the knowledge, instinct and understanding to back it up”said club co-owner David Beckham.
