It was expected, the ecological bonus will decrease in 2025. According to Les Échos, the reduction will be very significant for the least well-off households.
If you want to buy an electric car, hurry up. We knew it, the ecological bonus will drop on January 1, 2025. But Les Échos reveals the extent to which aid will decrease, and there will be big losers.
Currently, the bonus is €4,000 for people with a reference tax income per unit above €15,400. Below, the bonus is increased to €7,000.
In 2025, according to our colleagues, for the less well-off half of households, aid will drop from €7,000 to €4,000. The surprise is to see that the least wealthy are the biggest losers in 2025. However, we recall that this reinforced amount was put in place in 2023 and preserved in 2024. The sudden drop sounds like a catch-up. But €3,000 less will weigh on the final bill… especially since the scrappage bonus will also be completely stopped.
Then, for households located in the sixth to eighth income decile, the bonus will drop from €4,000 to €3,000.
The novelty of the scale will be the creation of a third level, the richest (9th and 10th decile), with a €2,000 bonus for them (instead of €4,000 therefore). However, we can be satisfied to see that the wealthiest will still be entitled to the bonus, whereas this was already no longer the case for the scrappage bonus.
Les Échos indicates that the 2025 aid should be implemented in the coming days with a decree. The bonus will always be subject to the eco-score and the maximum purchase price of the vehicle (which should remain at €47,000).
