Florentin Marinescu, 73, did miracles in terms of physical training alongside Steaua 1986the generation that brought the European Champions Cup to Bucharest. A martial arts legend, Sensei is the president of the high-profile federation. And now he explains from the position of supporter the fulminant rise of Călin Georgescu towards Cotroceni.
In the 80s, Florentin Marinescu worked with the golden generation of Stella, who won the European Champions Cup after the memorable final with Barcelona in Seville. He is still close today to many of the members of the team from that time, but also to Valentin Ceaușescu, the shadow protector of the group that achieved the greatest performance in the history of Romanian football.
Now, he was actively involved in the promotion campaign of Călin Georgescu for the presidential seat of Romania, being one of the voices hailing the victory of the candidate who appeared out of nowhere to produce a historic electoral surprise.

Florentin Marinescu: “He was not one of the politicians used to swap wives with each other”
– Mr. Marinescu, I noticed on social networks that you were among the people in Călin Georgescu's campaign videos. He is a man who seems to have won the first round of the presidential elections out of nowhere!
– It didn't come out of nowhere! The public mind has gotten used to the fact that no one else matters except those in the parties. People weren't paying attention, because he's not the kind of guy to swear, be mean, or hit with sleazy attitudes. He walks down the street like any ordinary citizen, you hardly notice him. He dresses civilized, he also wears perfume, you will never see him in a different posture. He is in his bank, he was active in the Rome Group, he worked at the UN. He wasn't one of the politicians we're used to, swapping wives with each other, arranging things for personal gain and covering their files. I mean, let Romania hurt their ass!
– Why did you feel the need to support him in this campaign with a stunning ending?
– Among other things, two details from his business card attracted me. One: he did performance judo and was a student of one of my former colleagues. And two: he is one of the disciples of Mircea Malița, a great personality of Romania. That we are making fun of ourselves and it seems to us that everything that existed before '90 in Romania has no value, is everyone's business. dar, for me, it is enough to know that he worked with Malița to pay attention to what he says. It means he takes care of showing smart things.
For 35 years we have not looked at the people who speak about the nation and the people. The world is sick of this mess. Some live well, others badly. But those who do it right have the feeling that they are the best and what they do is incomparable. They will never want the change, which is demanded of itself after so many years in which politics in Romania has turned into a quagmire. We are only making fun of our children if we don't do something!

Florentin Marinescu: “When you speak from the heart about Romania, you end up being a Putinist”
– But what do we do, Mr. Marinescu, when we see his beliefs and the pro-Putinist speech and the one of legionary origin? Do we accept this danger with our eyes closed?
-PSD and PNL have cyclically produced only substantial themes about women, mistresses and smelly business. And when someone appears with a speech about the country, about love for Romania, about the people, we quickly label him as a Putinist and a legionnaire! When you say a word from your heart for Romania, you immediately become pro-Putin! I don't recall that Putin has said anything about Romania, and so let's now put him in check for Georgescu's ascension.
– However, there are extremely clear statements by him in this regard!
– It seems to me a travesty and idiocy to make Călin Georgescu a Putinist and legionnaire! It's crazy! It's like asking me if I like Viktor Orban. Of course I do, because I look up to him as a man who does extraordinary things for his nation. We need to discuss people in the context of their work.
Călin Georgescu was not an exception in judo. But he practiced it seriously, he also came out as national runner-up in the juniors. However, this sport shaped him, helped him become a man. Because that “do” in the name “judo” means education

“If he talks about nationalism, do we immediately link him to the Jews?”
– But have you carefully seen his public statements over time?
– I also watched his videos. There are two stories that were put in his mouth. He was asked about the legionary movement and he said it was a nationalist movement. If you talk about nationalism, do we immediately associate it with the Jews? If you are a nationalist, does that mean you want to do what they did? Some nonsense! Are we no longer allowed to truly love Romania, from the heart? Let's put it in context and remember that, at the time of its construction, the legionary movement was perceived and embraced as an extraordinary current. Aaa, that he deviated afterwards into an extremist area, that's something else. But what do we do? Do we translate people from now to those times and immediately label them extremists just because they talk about nationalism?
– Don't you think…
– …wait a minute, I'm not done yet! He was asked by Prelipceanu on Digi 24 what he thinks about Putin. And that, alas!, he asked him the question three times, and at the end he answered that Putin loves his country. I mean, done! He's a pro-Putinist! Do we really no longer understand the Romanian language? What is incorrect in this answer? Doesn't Putin love his country? If I sympathized with Biden and now Trump has come to power and says he loves his country, do I put him directly under extremism, that he came to kill America? These are scenarios with which you want to influence the minds of simple people on the street, who may not fully understand the phenomenon.
Călin Georgescu loves his country and wants Romania to mean something else in the world. To raise his head. We find him dumb enough to immediately place him in a pro-Putinist and extremist auristic imaginary

“I had a great time when Ciolacu proposed him the position of prime minister, as if he was sure he would enter the 2nd round”
– And…
– …I'm not done! Is it good for the Romanian people to be thrown into war? To do what? If I were called to arms tomorrow, would I go to the front to fight for Ukraine? I wouldn't go! Călin Georgescu said very well: we must defend our country before we think about Ukraine! Let's live here well! Is it normal to give more than 3,000 lei in aid to Ukrainian children, and to give 260 lei to a Romanian child?
– How long have you known Călin Georgescu?
– For a good few years. Not even before the Revolution, he's about 12 years younger than me. I'll tell you something aberrant!
– Please!
– I had a great time when Ciolacu, not being sure that he would enter the final, proposed the post of prime minister to Călin Georgescu. A clown! Well, you don't know if you take the first two places and propose to others the prime minister's place? Well, maybe that president will come out! Why put him in a nonsensical scenario as if you've secured a spot in the 2nd round?
We must try to get better, think in the interest of this country, start working seriously, plant our own tomatoes and flowers. Otherwise we die! We do nothing but borrow money ad infinitum

– Are you sure that the idea that we discover in Călin Georgescu a pro-Russian character with legionary sympathies is an exaggeration?
– It's more than an exaggeration! That's exactly what was put in the bag for Simion, that all those who talk about Romania are Putinists and legionnaires. Fools, sir, fools! The same cretinous idea that you have killed one or taken him out of the market if you label him a Putinist gets into his head. Before everyone found out now that Călin Georgescu exists, some placed him on the side of the Americans. That he was at the UN, that he knows those in America. Now, suddenly, overnight, he became pro-Russia!
Călin Georgescu sometimes participates in judo training, a sport he practiced in his youth
“Well, with Madame Lipa's creative mind, did you want progress?”
– But do you anticipate that his profile will still stand in the second round?
– He will become the president of Romania! How should Madame Lasconi be at Cotroceni? Are we really making fun of this country for good? That would be the last possible job! If Lasconi becomes president, I will leave Romania for good! I forget that I am Romanian! Do we really love Romania or are we still going with this globalist rhetoric, which has nothing to do with real life in Romania? Those who created this country with wonderful, dignified, beautiful people are returning to their graves. Have we become enmity with each other and fight for some parties run by a bunch of tricksters?
– But what would you expect from a president with the profile of Călin Georgescu?
– Things must change, because money from outside will not come indefinitely. I sold everything in this country. Ciolacu, for example, provided the energy part. Are we waiting to receive another 10 lei so that we can pay salaries and some pensions? There we go! I destroyed everything in 35 years! All! We have an obligation to move, we cannot stay still. Well, did you want progress with Madam Lipa?
– Are you referring to the entry into the PSD of the head of the ANS?
– Yes! Can Madame Lipa push us forward with her tricks and her creative mind? How do you make her vice president at PSD? He pulled the party down a lot!
Elisabeta Lipă joined the PSD and is running for a senator's post
“If I had funds available, I would put all the money into Călin Georgescu's campaign”
– Did you contribute financially to Călin Georgescu's campaign?
– No, because I don't have such funds! But if I had the money, I'd get them all! I know that we put them in for Romania! And Lipă chose wisely if he joined Călin Georgescu, not PSD, because you only go there if you want to make more and more money!
– Have you heard any kind of attractive speech from Călin Georgescu and on this sports side?
– Georgescu and Simion were the only ones who often mentioned sports in the campaign. A Romanian sport reached a dead end! Călin also made a video in which he appears riding, judo, swimming. He is a man who likes sports and he is not indifferent to this sector either. Now was not the time to focus extensively on sports, but he knows what it means and what it goes with.
We started changing the terms completely absurd worldwide. Patriotism has become nationalism. Nationalism is extremism. And extremism is identified as terrorism. Look, the one who loves his country ends up being, in fact, a terrorist! It's absurd!
