The game show is about to make its return but this time, without the famous cows. This decision did not please the former DJ of the show who made it widely known.
“We’re going to hear great things!”, announced at the outset Nagui when he arrived on the set of “C l’hebdo”. The host was invited this Saturday, November 23, to the talk show presented by Aurélie Casse to respond to the growing controversy surrounding the cessation of the use of cows in “Intervilles”.
And if viewers must indeed say goodbye to the cows as they have always known them, they will remain present in their own way. “It will be a mascot, like we see on football or rugby fields, the phryges of the Olympic Games. But who will have as much impact and impact on the games, the kids and the bowls during the show?tried to reassure Nagui.

But this does not seem to find favor with aficionados of the program. A petition, already collecting 6,000 signatures, is circulating for the return of the cows. Its creator would accuse Nagui of sacrificing the spirit of the show for the benefit of his personal convictions. Furthermore, the mayors of several cities including Bayonne, Dax and Mont-de-Marsan, which historically hosted the game, refused to participate in these conditions. Charles Dayot, the mayor of Mont-de-Marsan took the opportunity to leave a message to the host, defending that the Landes were great defenders of animals and “civilized”.
“Being woke suits me”
“Think carefully, I think you can put the cows back in “Intervilles”. This game is linked to the Landes cow”addressed the mayor to Nagui. After emphasizing the softness of his interlocutor's voice, the presenter of the emblematic game had fun with this message. “I feel like he’s talking to me like I’m someone dangerous”he joked before continuing more seriously: “I have no doubt that Landes cows are happy in the wild. […] I don't think it's the natural element of a cow in a swimming pool or on a track with black soap. I don’t accuse anyone of mistreating”he insisted.
But the mayors of the region are not the only ones not to accept this version of “Intervilles” without cowhide. Philippe Corti, the show's former DJ, recently stated that he would refuse to participate again without the presence of the region's animals. “It’s right thinking, Nagui, he’s woke.” he would have declared to our colleagues from Midi-Free. And while Aurélie Casse asked her guest if they had been able to have any explanations since, Nagui responded while tapping on her phone: “I’ll give you a scoop. We’re going to call it that, we’re going to know if I’m woke or not.”
And the host was not bluffing. While holding the phone close to his ear, the host let the ringtone ring across the set. “Hello, it’s Nagui the woke guy from Intervilles”the host introduced himself before explaining the context of his call. “I never said that. I said that I would not participate in a woke show but not that Nagui was woke”defended Philippe Corti before specifying: “Knowing me, you know very well that when I say a word there are several meanings.” Nagui then wanted, with a smile, to cut the conversation short by claiming not to want to disturb him further and emphasizing that there was no problem.
After hanging up, the host wanted to clarify: “There is zero discomfort with Philippe. Woke for me is really not an insult.” He also recalled the original meaning of this word used by Martin Luther King to say that young people must remain awake in the face of racism, mistreatment and lack of respect. “So being woke suits me. We are not in the business of cancel culture or debunking things.”
